Patients with COVID-19, liver injury at higher risk for mortality, morbidity

Los pacientes con enfermedad hepática y cirrosis tienen una mayor mortalidad si se infectan por COVID-19. Los investigadores informaron que los hombres con elevación leve en las pruebas de función hepática (transaminasas) y lesión hepática (hígado graso y cirrosis) tienen un mayor riesgo de mortalidad (Riesgo Relativo = 4,26), ingreso en la UCI (RR = 5,52), intubación (RR = 11,01) y reingreso a los 30 días (RR = 1,81) vs. el grupo de control (sujetos con pruebas de función hepática normales).

Patients with liver disease as well as cirrhosis had increased mortality in COVID-19. Investigators reported that men with mild elevation in liver function test and liver injury have increased risk for mortality (Relative Risk =4.26), ICU admission (RR=5.52), intubation (RR=11.01) and 30-day readmission (RR=1.81) vs the control group (normal liver function tests).
