COLITIS ULCERATIVA. ULCERATIVE COLITIS. CLINICAL UPDATE

An analysis of 218,084 men in the population based UK Biobank cohort published that men with inflammatory bowel disease may have a higher risk for prostate cancer. The study findings suggest about a 50% increase in risk for prostate cancer among men with ulcerative colitis disease. We encourage our patients with ulcerative colitis to perform preventive medicine. It is important to do regular exams like colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer as well.
